Historical Context (Because History is Fun!): The Infantry Branch, also known as the "Queen of Battle," was established in 1775. Alongside the Artillery and Cavalry, it was one of the "classic" combat arms branches, now part of the "Maneuver, Fires, and Effects" classification. Ten companies of riflemen were authorized by the Continental Congress on 14 June 1775, with the 3rd Infantry Regiment being the oldest, constituted on 3 June 1784.
